News of an approved archaeological dig leads to a number of killings, however things seem even stranger when DI Kim Stone learns that permission for the excavation kept being denied. Once it’s ascertained that the victims of the killings are all linked by their previous employment at an old children’s home, the team are in for an uncomfortable case involving vulnerable victims.
I cannot recommend this police procedural crime thriller enough, DI Kim Stone is a compelling character, who is humorous, driven and tenacious. It didn’t hurt at all that the book was set in the West Midlands and not far from my home. I had to cancel everything until I had finished reading this one and it is far from predictable with a number of twists and turns to keep even a seasoned crime thriller reader like myself thoroughly enthralled.
Very possibly my best crime read for 2015.
