Advance Book Review: Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum

Anna Benz, wife, mother of three, lives with her Swiss banker husband in Dietlikon, Switzerland. However, Anna is unfulfilled, unhappy and bored, leading to her making the decisions, or allowing the passivity, depending on your point of view to embark on affairs. Anna’s story is interspersed with dialogue from her sessions with her therapist, which in turn raises many questions about her sense of self.

This psychological thriller takes a few unexpected turns and is riveting reading of a compelling protagonist. A heart-wrenching tale of marriage, fidelity, psyche and tragedy. A beautiful and haunting debut.
