When a famed taxidermist is found dead in his home it can only mean Rizzoli and Isles are back! This time in a hunt for a killer that eviscerates his victims. The story of the dead taxidermist investigation is woven with the story of eight strangers who meet in Botswana to go on safari, but the puzzle is what has this got to do with the murder of the taxidermist?
I loved reading the parts of this story that were taking part on safari in the Delta. The way the puzzle unfolds is just mesmerising and this is another book that kept me up as I just had to know how it ended. With big cats thrown in too I just loved this book.
I’m not sure if the TV series of Rizzoli and Isles, where Isles is almost unidentifiable from the books, is influencing the camaraderie between these two protagonists, but I have to admit to finding Maura the most genial she has ever been in this book. The mystery was top notch and the characters revealed more about themselves, as Maura finds herself in another personal dilemma.
I have read all of Tess Gerritsen’s books but this one has to be my favourite. She just gets better and better.
