Book Review: Nina Is Not OK by Shappi Khorsandi

Teenager Nina is in the middle of doing her A-levels, but one night at a nightclub where she gets very drunk and can’t remember the whole evening has a dire effect on her for the following year. Nina’s self destructive chaos leads her to heavy drinking and risky behaviour.
It’s seriously sad and disturbing to read what happens to Nina and how she copes with it. This book is written with a modicum of humour but the subject matter is uncomfortable and difficult reading, which is sensitively depicted.
It was very easy to get emotionally invested in Nina even when she made poor judgments. A challenging and thought provoking read.
